Projector lens or LED bulb: planning your lighting upgrade
A replacement bulb and a projector retrofit are different kinds of projects. Understanding the existing headlight helps you compare them without choosing by wattage alone.
Understand what changes
A bulb replacement changes the light source in an existing assembly. A projector retrofit changes part of the optical setup and may require opening the housing, fabricating mounts or adapting electrical controls.
Compare the installation requirements
Check lens diameter, depth, mounting points, beam orientation and switching connections. Ask a qualified installer to assess the housing and sealing requirements before buying retrofit components.
Evaluate the final beam
The useful result depends on the whole optical system and correct aim. Confirm compatibility, compliant operation and an appropriate installation method for the vehicle and destination.
