AOLI JOURNAL / BUYING GUIDE
How to choose a jump starter with an air compressor
Two roadside tools in one housing can make a kit easier to carry. The right combination unit still needs to match both your vehicle’s starting system and your tire-inflation needs.

Start with the battery system
Identify your vehicle’s battery voltage, engine fuel type and engine size. Compare these with the exact model’s published starting range. A large peak-amp number is not a substitute for a stated vehicle application.
Look at inflation separately
Check the pressure range, hose connection, power requirements and duty-cycle instructions. For your actual tire target, use the vehicle placard or owner’s manual rather than the inflator’s maximum pressure.
Think about the complete kit
Confirm the included clamps, charging cable, inflation adapters and storage case. Ask about the model’s recharge method and storage instructions so you can keep it ready between journeys.
